The Border Mail's Beau Greenway takes a look at each side's chances heading into another big summer of cricket.
ALSO IN SPORT:
BARANDUDA
Last season: 3rd
Captain: Aidan Ryan
Gains: Kane Smilie, Paul Munro
Losses: Nil
Leading run-scorer last season: Luke Bartley (494)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Zach Leach (34)
Prospects: The Rangers have some unfinished business. Barunduda dominated the regular season before coming up short in the preliminary final against Kiewa. With no key losses this summer, expect them to be right in the mix again.
Club comment (Vince Moran): We've played a fair bit of cricket together, so there's definitely a bit of hunger from the guys to try to take it another step further.
Prediction: 2nd
BARNAWARTHA-CHILTERN
Last season: 7th
Captain: Sean Lappin and Chris Hartshorn
Gains: Ricky Whitehead
Losses: Nil
Leading run-scorer last season: Sean Lappin (386)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Caleb Boxall (26)
Prospects: Returned to the competition last season and narrowly missed finals. Depth could be an issue without a second grade side.
Club comment (Chris Hartshorn): Last year we were all thrown together, but now we know what we can do, I think we can push for finals.
Prediction: 9th
BETHANGA
Last season: 10th
Captain: Brodie Sirl
Gains: Luke Rafferty, Jack Gilbee
Losses: Nil
Leading run-scorer last season: Brad Taylor (247)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Kristen Jahne (25)
Prospects: The addition of Luke Rafferty from Wodonga Raiders will certainly strengthen the top order at Bethanga, but they've got some ground to make up.
Club comment (Brodie Sirl): It would be nice to a win a few this year and get on a bit of roll. Everyone is looking to make finals and it will be good to get off the bottom of the ladder.
Prediction: 10th
COROWA
Last season: 4th
Captain: Daniel Athanitis
Gains: Nil
Losses: Kade Wilson
Leading run-scorer last season: Nathan Rhodes (616)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Daniel Athanitis (39)
Prospects: The Corowa skipper was the leading wicket-taker in the competition last season and is hungry to take his side back the premiership after a disappointing end to the most recent campaign.
Club comment (Daniel Athanitis): We let footy get in the way and we won't be doing that again. Footy seems to take over for all of us because everyone plays. We're pretty keen to be around the mark again.
Prediction: 1st
DEDERANG
Last season: 6th
Captain: Andrew Creamer
Gains: Ethan Albon, Ben Mitchell, Ryan Barker
Losses: Nil
Leading run-scorer last season: Andrew Creamer (784)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Jesse Marcuzzi (24)
Prospects: Any side possessing the leading run-scorer in a one-day competition should be in good stead and the Demons have that in Creamer.
Club comment (Andrew Creamer): We've had a few injuries that have put blokes out, so it's a chance to give some young blokes a chance.
Prediction: 4th
ESKDALE
Last season: 9th
Captain: John Purtell
Gains: Andrew Mansale, Harry Nicholls, Ben Williams, Clint Gilson, Alex Beggs
Losses: Shaun Baude
Leading run-scorer last season: Jamie Baude (346)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Haydon Wilson (24)
Prospects: The addition of co-coach Andrew Mansale will bring some much-needed consistency to the Eskdale top order. His international experience should hold the Mountain Men in good stead.
Club comment (Tom Hodgkin): Liam Tobin is going to have a bit more availability this year with work. He's obviously had some trouble with back issues a couple of years ago and reckons he's back to fully fit.
Prediction: 5th
HOWLONG
Last season: 8th
Captain: Ryan Withers
Gains: Ryan Withers, Dale Mount
Losses: Nil
Leading run-scorer last season: Darren Keenes (514)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Aaron Hoskin (37)
Prospects: Ryan Withers returns to lead the Spiders after a season at Ovens Valley United and will be the key to their success.
Club comment (Ryan Withers): I think it's about getting the right mindset into them so they're playing smarter cricket and playing to win. I don't feel like the side needed to change much, it's just mentality.
Prediction: 8th
KIEWA
Last season: 2nd
Captain: Josh Bartel
Gains: Nil
Losses: Brent de Vries
Leading run-scorer last season: Brent de Vries (390)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Brent de Vries (28)
Prospects: The loss of former captain, leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker Brent de Vries is a huge one to cover, but otherwise it's an unchanged squad.
Club comment (Ben Curphey): It will be tough for a start with unavailability and what-not, but once we get to the pointy end we should be thereabouts again.
Prediction: 7th
MOUNT BEAUTY
Last season: 5th
Captain: Daniel Saville
Gains: Greg McLennan, Nathan Iaria
Losses: Jake Styles, Damien Jenvey
Leading run-scorer last season: Ashan Ranaweera (655)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Ashan Ranaweera (36)
Prospects: Losing wicketkeeper-batsman Damien Jenvey and strike bowler Jake Styles will be tough to cover, but Mount Beauty has proven itself as one of the most consistent district sides for a number of years.
Club comment (Daniel Saville): We've still kept a lot of experience, but hopefully we can cover those losses with a few players coming from B grade. They won the grand final last year.
Prediction: 6th
YACKANDANDAH
Last season: 1st
Captain: Bailey Glass
Gains: Jay Hillary, Matt Rockliff, Sam Witherow
Losses: Nil
Leading run-scorer last season: Cooper Garoni (523)
Leading wicket-taker last season: Mick Walker (31)
Prospects: Hit form at the business end of the season to capture the premiership last season. Three good additions should see the Roos around at the business end.
Club comment (Andrew Lockett): We should be competitive, unavailability might cruel us at times. We'd like a bit more youth, especially in the bowling stocks.
Prediction: 3rd
