When the Bonegilla Craft Group first began almost a decade ago, just six women attended each week.

Sewing, crafting, knitting.

But as their projects grew, so did the number of people who wanted to attend.

Founding member Pam Rapsey said about 25 women were currently a part of the group.

She said the group was created as a place where women, especially those living on farms out of towns, could come together - and bring their UFOs.

"I just thought there was a lot of women around that needed somewhere to go and talk," Mrs Rapsey said.

"And there are a lot of UFOs - unfinished objects - about.

"It's a great day for women to come together for a fun day."

The group meets every Thursday from 10am to 2pm and pay $5 a session which goes towards the upkeep of the community-owned hall.

Members travel all the way from Tallangatta, Wodonga and Yackandandah for a place to craft, learn and support each other.

Mrs Rapsey said there were no restrictions on the kinds of crafts members were able to do and there was always someone willing to lend a hand.

She said there had been a real craft revival in recent years.

"There's been a resurgence but it's also about companionship," she said.

"People want to learn different crafts and get companionship with it and they can come along and we learn from each-other."

The group is holding their biennial craft exhibition on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Entry is $5.
