Albury's offering to remember the aeroplane its residents helped save in 1934 has not been forgotten by the Dutch airline involved.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines marked its centenary on Monday with the release of a commemorative book Welcome Aboard!
The book includes an explanation of the Montford Uiver Flight Memorial, a statuette given to the people of Holland by the people of Albury.
It had been commissioned after the KLM DC-2 airliner Uiver crashed in December 1934, only two months after its successful emergency landing at Albury racecourse, guided by car headlights.
