The full-contact event saw two days of play with teams battling it out across three age categories for the first time, with the introduction of the under-14's competition this year.
O'Connell said over 1000 people passed through the gates on Saturday, with numbers also healthy for the finals on Sunday.

"We've seen some great rugby league and it's certainly going to help the growth of the game," O'Connell said.
"We had six teams entered in the first year of under-14's.
"I think it will hopefully give them the appetite to keep playing in the future."
O'Connell admitted it was also a terrific effort from his club in the carnival, with a grand final win and semi-final berth.
Wodonga Storm also had sides competing in the open and under-14's competition on the weekend.
