A man is due to appear in court on Tuesday after an armed robbery at an Albury liquor store on the weekend.

A NSW Police spokesperson said the 39-year-old man visited the Smollett Street shop about 5.30pm Saturday.
"Police allege the man entered the store with a large shifter in his hand and his face covered by a balaclava, before demanding cash from the liquor store attendant," the spokesperson said.
"The man allegedly swung the shifter towards the attendant, before fleeing the scene in a four wheel drive empty-handed."

Police established a crime scene then visited a West Albury house where they believed the alleged offender was located.
The man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with intent to rob while armed with offensive implement and face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.
The man was bail refused and appeared before Albury Local Court on Sunday. He is set to re-appear before Albury Local Court on Tuesday.
