Castles has informed Yackandandah officials of his intention to play at the higher level next season.
The power forward is set to form a two-pronged attack alongside burly journeyman Damian Cupido who signed with the Roos last month.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Roos are in desperate need of some firepower after Alex Wallis topped the club's goal-kicking with 15 majors this season.
Cody Parker led the way the previous year with 16.
Castles last played in the O and M in 2009 where he was part of the Tigers' flag under coach Paul Spargo.
In a huge gamble by the Roos, Cupido will also play O and M for the first time since he departed North Albury at the end of 2010.
Castles enjoyed another outstanding season for Yackandandah.
The sharpshooter notched the fourth century of his career and finished the season with a career high 115 goals.
He has previously reached the magical milestone with Yackandandah in 2015 and 2017 and with his junior club Jindera last season.
Thurgoona also heavily targeted Castles before he decided to cross to the John Foord Oval.
Corowa-Rutherglen has also signed classy midfielders Damien Wilson and his younger brother Cameron.
