Take Your Dream is the finished product of Eric Helmick and his son Hunter's marathon swim down the length of the river in 2016.
The film, produced by the family's company Way Out West Media Entertainment Group, is showing at The River Community Church on David Street, Albury at 7pm before it is shown at theatres.
The Helmicks founded Team Help!, a religious group that aims to promote ideas, dreams and passions through action.
The feature-length documentary, which was mostly shot on an iPhone during their swim, hopes to inspire the youth of Australia and shine a light on mental health and suicide in the country.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Take Your Dream is the story of a father and his two sons who risked everything they had to inspire the youth of Australia by swimming 2400 kilometres down the nation's longest river in an effort to bring awareness to depression and suicide," principal director Eric Helmick said.
"Our goal at the end is to inspire and give hope to the youth of Australia," Mr Helmick said.
"I've been writing screenplays for 30 years and it's all about story.
"On the making of Take Your Dream, incredibly dramatic days and unseen moments of adventure unfolded right before our eyes. I was frantic trying to get my head out of what I knew about writing good story and get my heart into what was occurring right before my eyes."
Over 300 hours of footage was captured during their 120 day journey.
The team also met with hundreds of school students along the way hoping to inspire them through their record-breaking swim - the first Americans to swim the length of the river.
"No one will make your dreams come true. Life is not a fairytale. If you want it, you have to take it," Mr Helmick said.
The film is free and open to all ages.
