Despite all 12 schools starting with the same solar panels, motors and controllers, the students created vastly different vehicles over three months.
"The quality is very impressive," Wilson Transformer manager John Retford said during yesterday's race in Albury.

"There is a lot you can learn from these.
"The main aim is to build relationships between industry and the schools."
Mr Retford said despite there being some cloud cover during the event, the conditions were "perfect" to power the solar cars.
There have been 1200 young people, 34 businesses and 25 schools involved in the event over the past 26 years.
