The Corowa Civic pennant player recently claimed her first national singles event, winning the Australian Champion of Champions Singles title at South Perth Bowling Club.

Hayman primarily plays for St John's Park in Sydney and won the club singles there, before taking out the NSW Champion of Champions Singles in a knockout format to progress to the Australian event.

The 22-year-old won her first six games to have the title wrapped up after two days, with a loss in her final match unable to change the overall result.

Hayman defeated ACT champion Chloe Morrison (Tuggeranong Valley) 21-9, Western Australia's Noelene Abe (Corrigin) 21-15, Victoria's Carla Krizanic (Sunbury) 21-11, Queensland's Katelyn Inch (Broadbeach) 21-14, Tasmanian Lynette Triffitt (New Norfolk) 21-16 and South Australia's Renata Callisto (Grange) 21-12, to clinch victory, before falling to Colleen Orr (Darwin) 21-14 in her last game.

It's the second straight year a bowler from the Ovens and Murray region has won the Australian Champion of Champions, with Wodonga's Kylie Whitehead taking it out in Tasmania last year.

"It's probably my best achievement because it's a singles event," Hayman said.

"I won the Australian Open pairs in June, but this one is much more special because I did it by myself.

"I was really happy. I was pretty consistent through the whole tournament.

"I won most of the games convincingly, leading start to finish.

"We played three games the first day, three the second and one the last day.

"It was a round-robin series, so whoever finished on top of the section at the end won the tournament.

"I won the three games on the first day and the three games on the second day, which wrapped the tournament up before last game was played.

"I unfortunately I got beaten in the last game, but not to worry."

Hayman will debut for the Australian Jackaroos next month at the Multi-Nations Championship on the Gold Coast.

The tournament runs from November 18-24.

"We've got two teams split into five women and five men, so everyone in the Australian team is playing, it's just a matter of which side they're in," she said.

"After that is the Trans-Tasman test series against New Zealand."

Hayman returned for Corowa Civic on Saturday and steered her rink to a 33-21 win to help set up the overall 29-shot victory against YMGCR.
