A government inquiry hearing looking into the problem of homelessness in Victoria should take place in Wangaratta, MP Tania Maxwell has argued.

Ms Maxwell joined with Wangaratta Council, Centre Against Violence and Junction Support Services on Monday to make the pitch.
The inquiry will look at social and economic factors affecting homelessness, and how services can help.
"Hundreds of people across the North East are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, every night," Ms Maxwell said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"There are added issues that vulnerable people encounter in securing stable accommodation in rural and regional areas.
"The inquiry will benefit from conducting a hearing here, enabling local organisations and people directly experiencing homelessness with the opportunity to talk directly to the committee."
Other current government inquiries into disadvantaged jobseekers, climate change and waste management had hearings in regional Victoria, but skipped the North East.
