Doors N Knobs supervisor Josh Fluss was heading south on the Lincoln Causeway on the Wodonga Creek bridge when his white Hyundai was struck on the driver's side about 2.30pm.

He said the white Mitsubishi Lancer which struck him then hit a grey sedan before coming to a stop just after turning into the Bandiana Link Road.

Mr Fluss then saw a man get something from the back of the Mitsubishi, before fleeing into bushland alongside Wodonga Creek.

He estimated an Albury police car arrived at the scene about ten minutes later.

They were joined by Wodonga police with officers swarming across an area of land bounded by the Lincoln Causeway, Murray River and Hume Freeway.

Just before 5pm a police helicopter called in from Melbourne joined in the search for the wanted 42-year-old man, who had previous warrants out for his arrest.

A dog was also used to try and uncover the wrong-doer.

Police cars were stationed at the original site of the man's disappearance at the southern end of the causeway as well as near the Porta balls sculpture at its northern end.

Other officers gathered under the 19^th century railway bridge across the Murray River.

Despite their efforts, the man remained on the loose on Monday night.

Police were unable to give The Border Mail a description of the wanted man.

Tow trucks removed the van and stationwagon, while the sedan was driven from the scene despite having suffered some damage.
