Cresswell, 16, is the eldest son of Wangaratta Rovers coach and 244-game former Sydney Swan Daryn.
He has played the majority of his junior football for Clarence in the Southern Tasmania Football League.
"Jake was in the AFL Tasmania under-16 academy this season and done quite well," Wilson said.
"Jake is relocating to the area once he finishes school.
"He will move to Wodonga and live with his dad.
"On the recommendation of Craig Notman who is the talent manager for AFL Tasmania we have brought Jake into the pre-season squad."

Wilson said Cresswell was not included in the squad simply because of his father.
"Regardless of the fact that he has obviously got a good pedigree with his dad, we got notification from Craig that he would be worthy of a spot in our pre-season squad," he said.
"Craig Notman was talent manager of Oakleigh Chargers for three years and has been in the talent pathway programs and worked at AFL clubs.
"He wouldn't recommend a player that wasn't worthy.
"If Jake is good enough to gain a spot, he will be a bottom aged player next year."
More than 260 players were nominated by their respective clubs for the pre-season squad.
The talented nominees take part in training, trial games, athletic testing and meetings as part of the selection process, which began back in July.
The pre-season program will commence on November 17 at Norm Minns Oval and run up until Christmas.
There is another 11 weeks of training and practice matches scheduled from January 12 to round one of competition on March 20.
