The Border course will return to the PGA of Australia circuit for the first time in around a decade when it hosts a pro-am on December 10.
But forward-thinking club professional Gavin Vearing is targeting the concept which is enormously popular on the US PGA circuit at Pebble Beach, featuring Justin Timberlake and NFL star Tom Brady.
"Ideally, I'd like to eventually get into a celebrity pro-am," he said.
"I've got quite a few friends from my time in Melbourne who are successful footballers, cricketers, tennis players and basketballers, there's a lot of golf tragics out there who also love playing other sports."
Carlton premiership players Stephen Kernahan, Greg Williams and Craig Bradley would join former Australian basketballers Andrew Gaze and Mark Bradtke, along with grand slam doubles winner Todd Woodbridge, as potential targets.

But first, Vearing is banking on Wodonga's return to the elite level attracting a $15,000 purse.
"We expect to have 50 pros and 150 amateurs, so to get a couple of hundred people on the course, it will be the biggest day of the year," he enthused.
Spots are still available for amateurs in the morning field for the Tuesday event.
"The club has a really passionate PGA pro in Gavin Vearing and he just really wants to showcase everything that his golf course and region has to offer," PGA tournament coordinator Dylan Higgins said.
Wodonga last held a pro-am during the Murray Masters, which started in 2008, at four Border courses.
Vearing is hoping Corowa product and three-time European Tour winner Marcus Fraser and 2016 Australian Open runner-up Ashley Hall, who fell in a playoff to Jordan Spieth, will tackle the event.
The tournament kick-starts two top days with Commercial Golf Resort Albury's December 11 pro-am.
