Despite North Wangaratta co-coach Dallas Colman claiming in the Wangaratta Chronicle that Spencer had signed with the Hawks, the spearhead said he was going nowhere.
There was speculation Spencer could be heading to the Hawks after former Rutherglen teammate Josh Warren signed as co-coach.
"I saw the article but it's simply not true," Spencer said.
"Obviously Marmo signed as co-coach and I'm mates with him, so I had a chat with them and I admit I showed a bit of interest.
"But I was a bit surprised more than anything with the story.
"Once the story appeared I had to make a few phone calls to let Brock-Burrum know it wasn't happening.
"I have to get a bit of work done on my ankle over the summer but I will be definitely staying."
