But the competition is friendly and the inaugural event, lead by photographer Luke Hunter, is actually hoped to bring the diverse car-loving community together.
"We put the show together to ignite the rivalry between Victoria and NSW and get all the car people together of different sub-cultures and genres all in one place," Mr Hunter said.
"We have a NSW side and they have a good mix of old-school muscles and JDM cars.
"We'll have winners and runner-ups from both states and the overall car that gets the most points will receive the perpetual trophy."
Mr Hunter has organised 85 cars for the event at Junction Place, which is "different to others like it".
"We're running it later in the day so we get the sunset through the arches, and we don't have categories like normal shows ... everybody is all together," he said.
"As far as I'm aware, it hasn't been done before.
"Albury-Wodonga is the best sort of place to have it because we have such a rich car culture here and history of car events with guys who have been in the car scene for so long.
"We have plans to go bigger next year."
Lifelong "Ford man" Chris Carpenter will be there with his Ford XC Ute 1976, which was without a motor or a gear box when he acquired it.
"The old man had these [cars] when I was growing up," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I had most of the stuff laying around at home and did the usual - buy wheels, do the interior - and it was painted, so that was the hard part over and done with.
"It took me a couple years to get it going and I've been tinkering every since."
Rjey Jornadal will be showing his Nissan Silvia S15 Autech.
"It's my dream car," he said.
"I wanted to support the local car community and support Luke."
Unique cars of interest include a Factory Five GTM kit-car and a 1940s F-Truck with a diesel engine.
Aside from the cars, there will also be live music, vendors, and food at the free event.
It runs from 2.30pm to 8pm on Saturday, October 26.
