The Wodonga man once again has a best mate - in the form of a Whippet.
No one can quite remember how he came across his first dog, now commonly referred to as Susie one, when he was just a 15-year-old.
But since then the dogs, all called Susie, have been by his side.
When Mr Parnaby's previous dog had to be put down his support team rallied around him, and made "about 7000" phone calls trying to find Susie number four.
Narelle Robinson from Ray White Wodonga started a GoFundMe page to help fund the new dog with many local residents donating a few bucks in support of Mr Parnaby.
"Everyone knows him or has seen him travelling around town on his scooter, going into every coffee shop in town, with his dog by his side," mother Judy Parnaby said.
"Susie is just his best friend - she is everything to him.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"And that never changes, this new dog is just a beautiful girl, she is nearly two and the perfect companion for Chris."
Friend Jen Johnson, who is a Whippet breeder herself, said a couple from Young, NSW donated the dog.
"We were blown away when Ray and Yvonne Barter said they have a girl for Chris and all we had to do was go and get her," she said.
"That was after about the 7000th phone call, but we wanted to make sure Susie was the right fit for Chris.
"He has only had her for about a month now and she is so good for him, you can see he loves her and vice versa."
Ms Parnaby and friend Janet Hosie made the trip to collect Susie and she hasn't left Mr Parnaby's side since.
"We just want to say thank you to everyone who have helped get Susie for Chris," Ms Parnaby said.
"It is really important for him to have an assistance dog and she is beautiful.
"We know our community is really generous and it just goes to show how much Chris is loved.
"It is pretty special for Narelle to help out again as she helped get him the previous Susie too."
Susie is a registered assistance dog for Mr Parnaby who said she loves cuddles but she is still getting used to travelling in the dog carrier behind his scooter.
