"ADHD is a real neurological disorder," Rebecca Perkins said.
"It's not a social disorder that's just brought on by bad parenting, they're born with it. If a child with ADHD is given the right support and the right assistance and the right nurture growing up then they can be amazing.
"People don't see that, they just see a child who's not behaving how they want them to."
Ms Perkins, the founder of My Special Child, and Christina Keeble, of Neurodivergent Mum, will present an ADHD and demand avoidance seminar at Commercial Club Albury on November 8.

Organised by Aspire Support Services, the one-day program is aimed at parents, carers, educators and other professionals and will include information on topics such as anxiety, anger, behaviour, learning and educational strategies, meltdowns, diagnosis and emotional regulation.
Ms Perkins, who is the mother of children with ADHD and also has the disorder herself, started the My Special Child website five years ago out of frustration at the lack of available information for parents and carers.
She said her main message would be trying to raise awareness and empathy about ADHD among adults.
"Rather than looking at it from a 'I've got to discipline this out of my child' stance, really actually getting into an understanding of what the child's experiencing and what the child's going through," she said.
