Planetrees Estate, 10 kilometres from Beechworth, is a European-style terraced garden over two hectares that began as "a bare site and a depleted old timber mill".
Owner and designer Genevieve Milham said the Stanley Road property was now on the market.
"I've done everything I set out to do, I think it's time for the next person to come and add their vision," she said.
"And I will move on to take on another project."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Planetrees Estate will be open between 10am and 4pm Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3, with tickets through Eventbrite or at the gate.
Saturday's program includes picnic fun from noon to 4pm featuring a wood fired pizza oven, brews, cocktails and cordials from Billson's Brewery and live music.
Among estate highlights are the 16 metre natural swimming pool and water garden, architect-designed landscaping, 350 deciduous and productive trees, perennial beds and rare plants.
There are multiple terraces, courtyards and garden rooms, as well as hedges and a raised kitchen garden.
Ms Milham grew up in Albury and lived overseas for many years before returning to the Border and North East.
"It reopened my eyes about how beautiful the region is, so I decided to stay," she said.
"I've been a designer all my life, I'm always looking for creative projects.
"For years I'd just had that dream I wanted to build a beautiful garden and it developed from there.
"I've been to many, many beautiful European gardens, so I suppose this was a way of bridging my worlds - my love of Australia and my love of European gardens."
The owner said providing holiday accommodation at Planetrees Estate helped fund the developing garden, with thousands of guests visiting over the past decade.
"It enabled me to share the vision and bring some green therapy to others," she said.
"It's a digital detox, it's a wind down, it's a lovely region."
