Super-consistent Beth Mooney has guided Brisbane Heat to a convincing nine-wicket WBBL victory over the Adelaide Strikers at Harrup Park.
After the Strikers easily won the first leg of the Mackay weekend double-header by nine wickets on Saturday, the Heat bounced back emphatically on Sunday, cruising past the 142-run target with 17 deliveries to spare.
Mooney, the leading scorer in this season's competition with 346 runs at 86.50, stroked 10 boundaries in her unbeaten 77 off 51 balls.
With fellow opener Grace Harris (30) and No.3 Jess Jonassen (25 not out) providing the support, the Heat were untroubled in reeling in the Strikers' 8-141.
Sophie Devine (65) top-scored for the visitors before being run-out off the last ball of the innings.
Fellow New Zealand 'Smash Sister' Suzie Bates scored 27 at the top and Amanda-Jade Wellington chimed in with 23 but otherwise the Strikers found it hard going against a disciplined Brisbane attack and ultimately conceded top spot to Sydney Thunder at the end of the weekend.
Georgia Prestwich (3-29) and Sammy-Jo Johnson (2-30) were the Heat's chief wicket-takers.
