General David Hurley and his wife Linda have attended the festival for the past two years but vice regal commitments will prevent them attending the fourth annual event this year.

Instead festival organisers will bring a small taste of the program to them on Thursday, November 7.

Festival artistic director Helena Kernaghan and St Matthew's Music Association president Fr Peter MacLeod-Miller are taking The Scots choir, Chorale, to perform in Canberra.

They will be accompanied by Year 11 violin student William Tomkins for a performance of the sublime work Psalm 8 (Adonai Adonenu) by Dan Forrest.

Together with Trinity Anglican College students Thomas Summerfield and Arthur Hull, they will entertain a Legacy Widows morning tea at Government House.

The Scots School Chorale will showcase student performers in the upcoming Albury Chamber Music Festival on November 16.

Ms Kernaghan said The Scots School middle years choir, Cantabile, performed last year to great acclaim.

"The opportunity to continue to build on this connection highlights the importance of excellent music programs in regional schools, and Thomas Summerfield will be one of the student performers in the 2019 Rising Stars Masterclass," she said.

"This is an important part of the festival when some of our leading artists share their experience and expertise to hone the musical talents of young people on the border."

For local music lovers hoping to support these up and coming performers, catch the Scots School Chorale performance during concert 5 of the 2019 festival - 2pm on Saturday, November 16 at St Matthew's Church, Albury.

The Rising Stars student masterclass will be conducted by members of Seraphim Trio and held at 4pm on Friday, November 15 at the Adamshurst Ballroom.
