A Border school has collected 3124 cans of food to help people in need, with at least one student putting their own money towards the cause.

Wodonga Primary School took part in the One Can Challenge, which aids Uniting's Food for Families.
One Can founder Ainsley Dycer said the school had collected cans since 2016.
"And each year have upped the ante and gathered more cans than the year before," she said.

Year 4 student Jye Webb spent $80 of his own money, which his father then matched, to buy 207 cans for the challenge.
"Jye had his wheelbarrow full of cans," Ms Dycer said.
"He did something similar last year ... and this year he set out to contribute even more."

Ms Dycer invited others to become involved in One Can.
"It simply involves chipping in one can of food, throwing an extra item in the shopping trolley and there's a few drop-off points around Albury-Wodonga," she said.
