Two teenagers accused of attempted murder will face "strong and long-term custodial sentences" if found guilty, Albury police say.
She remains in a stable but serious condition in hospital.
Acting Inspector Troy Martin said police had been able to briefly speak to the teenage girl.
He praised the actions of firefighters who entered the smoke-filled building and said the 16-year-old was lucky to be alive.
"She's very lucky, it was excellent work by members of the NSW Fire and Rescue," he said.
"Given the conditions they were faced with what they did, being able to find that young person in her house which contained a lot of smoke and fire, they did an amazing job."

Acting Inspector Martin said two boys, aged 16 and 17, will face children's court on Monday morning, where one is expected to apply for bail.
He said police believe some residents of the Swan Street home were acquaintances with the teenagers.
He said the boys had been charged with a range of offences including attempted murder.
"It's very concerning that two young persons are involved in these types of matters," he said.
"The offences are very serious, there is a likelihood of a strong and long term custodial sentence [if found guilty]."
Acting Inspector Martin assured the community the alleged attack was an isolated incident and said police were not looking for anyone else.
He said inquiries were ongoing and anyone with information should contact Albury police or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

Two teenage boys have been charged with attempted murder after a girl was found with multiple stab wounds in a burning building on Monday in Albury.
They will appear in children's court on Tuesday.
Police said about 12.30am on Monday, two teens visited the home of an acquaintance on Swan Street in Albury, requesting a room to stay for the night.
About 9.30am, emergency services were called to the Swan Street home following reports that the building was on fire.
Officers attached to Murray River Police District, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and found a 16-year-old girl within the burning building in a semi-conscious state.
She was treated at the scene for multiple stab wounds to her abdomen, back and head, before being taken to hospital with a punctured liver.
The girl is currently recovering in hospital and is in a stable position.
Following inquiries, about 11.50am on Monday, officers arrested two boys, aged 16 and 17, on Allawah Street, North Albury.
Police were told the teens had allegedly assaulted the 16-year-old before setting fire to the bedroom.
The two teens were taken to Albury Police Station and charged with attempted murder, wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, choke person with intent to commit indictable offence, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable offence and destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life.
They were refused bail to appear before a children's court on Tuesday.
