The victim of an alleged murder attempt in North Albury suffered stab wounds to her abdomen, back and head, and had her liver punctured during the incident, according to police.
She was in a stable condition on Tuesday.
Acting Inspector Troy Martin said investigators still had a lot of work to do on the case.
But police are not seeking anyone else for the offending, which led to two teenagers being charged with attempted murder after being arrested on Allawah Street about two hours after the incident.
"Given the serious nature of it, there are a large number of enquiries to be undertaken, which will be managed by detectives here at the Murray River Police District," he said.
It was unclear what the relationship was between the two boys, aged 16 and 17, and the victim.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Acting Inspector Martin described them as "acquaintances".
"At this time there are no other persons wanted to be spoken to by police," he said.
"Police have spoken briefly with the young (girl).
"As to what has been told, what has been said, that won't be disclosed.
"It's part of the investigation."
Acting Inspector Martin said the girl was "very, very lucky" and praised the actions of two firefighters who entered the burning home.
"(It was) excellent work by NSW Fire and Rescue," he said.
"They did a fantastic effort in removing the young girl from the residence."
The officers are based at the Mate Street fire brigade, and arrived about two minutes after a Triple-0 call was placed.
Fire and Rescue Superintendent Stewart Alexander also praised their actions, which occurred as thick smoke billowed out the door of the burning home during intense heat.
Forensics officers spent several hours sifting through the burnt-out fibro home after the blaze.
Several yellow markers could be seen highlighting areas and items of interest.
The house will eventually need to be demolished.
Detectives are still seeking witnesses to the incident and those with information to contact Albury police or Crime Stoppers.
