At this stage, the finalists will kick-start the season on Saturday, March 28, but scope is there for another non-Albury-Wodonga team to stage another game.
The Border match is aiming for a twilight fixture, with a charity clash as the curtain-raiser, similar to last season's enormously successful Fight MND clash, which raised more than $70,000 and featured the Daniher family against All-Star sides in football and netball.
Neale Daniher, who's become the public face of the disease, attended the day at Albury Sportsground in late March, the week before the O and M season started.
"We're working through with 2AY, Albury and the SS&A on the execution of the day, but it will certainly involve a charity game that would benefit a local charity in the region," O and M general manager Sean Barrett.
"It's certainly important from our perspective to support local communities, our teams form a big part of them and so we are really keen to create an event as opposed to a normal round fixture."

If any of the non-Albury-Wodonga clubs wanted to host a game on the same day, there would be no stipulation it needed to be a charity event.
In other developments, round one starts on April 4, with Anzac Day falling on a Saturday, meaning a full round will be played that day.
And the possibility of staging a night game early in the year, when the weather is warmer, is now available to six clubs.
Wodonga, Albury and Wangaratta Rovers have upgraded their lighting, joining Wangaratta, Lavington and Myrtleford as potential hosts.
Clubs will have a number of days to submit any changes to the draft draw, while the O and M is still awaiting confirmation of the future of both interleague and the annual State game (Victoria Country v Victorian Amateurs) to finalise the draw.
