The council submitted its application on Wednesday night after councillors agreed on where the money should be spent.
The application included 15 projects which aim to have a "positive impact" on the local government area and the agriculture sector.
Mayor Patrick Bourke said the projects submitted as part of the application consist of 10 community infrastructure projects, four event based projects, and the new drought position for the period of the funding.
"Corowa District Landcare will host the drought support officer position," he said.
"The projects range from water pipeline projects, installation of Bureau of Meteorology approved weather stations and soil moisture probes, public facility upgrades, town improvement projects and a range of agricultural industry events.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"This is an exciting opportunity to deliver projects that will provide a significant benefit to our communities whilst the ongoing drought is impacting.
"And we are very grateful to the federal government for the opportunity to apply for this funding.
"We're looking forward to working with the project proponents, including partnering with other stakeholders in many cases, to deliver these projects over the next seven months."
The most amount of money will be spent on the Urana Reliable Water Pipeline Project with $250,000 going towards extending the Reliable Water Pipeline Project by two kilometres to allow for a more reliable source of water for the Urana Aquatic Centre.
Toilet upgrades worth $140,000 at the Rand Recreation Reserve are also on the cards as well as $65,000 to Rand Town Improvement Projects to implement Plan Rand which could see silo art and town beautification upgrades.
Council will host a breakfast series for women across the region which aim to connect and inspire local women.
Other events planned include building resilience workshops, sustainable livestock production events and soil moisture probe measurement events.
