Several drivers were forced to slam on their brakes to avoid a crash in Myrtleford as a dangerous driver hit speeds of more than 180km/h.

Police are seeking help to identify the man behind the wheel of the white Holden VN Commodore on Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicle, which has registration NGV126 and a small bullbar, drove into the town on Buckland Gap Road about 4.20pm.

Sergeant Paul Evans said police tried to stop the car but it sped off, overtook three cars and forced another vehicle to brake, passed two cars on the left, overtook a bus and sped down Prince Street towards Forest Lane.
"It was just outrageously dangerous driving that put people on the road at risk as well as the person driving the car," he said.
