McQualter won the Picola and District league club's best and fairest in 2017 and 2018 before managing only five matches this season.
He captained Berrigan under former Corowa-Rutherglen forward Lee Schmidt.
Yarrawonga remains in the mix for several other recruits with coach Mark Whiley hoping to add experience to help bring along the Pigeons' youngsters.
Whiley will have three senior assistant coaches in Marcus Cummins, Matt Dwyer and Tyler Sprunt in his first year the helm.
"Last season we had a lot of youngsters who were being developed into senior players and we want to continue that development for them to go and become 10-year players for Yarrawonga," Whiley told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
"The senior coaching role is being spread which will mean more one-on-one time with that development of younger players."
