It will be the first time in over 15 years the league hasn't fielded a senior representative team with president Brendan I'Anson citing a lack of interest for the decision.

Only four clubs wanted to continue playing representative matches.

The Tallangatta and District league will discuss interleague football at their annual general meeting on Sunday with president Rex Gray doubtful they will continue either.

I'Anson said he was disappointed to drop interleague football but could understand the reasoning of clubs.

"I am a bit (disappointed) but things have changed and I see why clubs and players aren't as keen to play these days," he said.

"It's happening more and more in leagues due to a number of reasons.

"We looked at a few ideas like under-20s and things like that but it depends on what other leagues want to do as well.

"We will revisit it next year.

"If someone comes up with a good option, we will look at it."

I'Anson stressed the Hume league was eager to continue with junior representative football with the Wangaratta carnival firmly on its radar.

Hume has beaten the Riverina, Tallangatta, Ovens and King and Farrer leagues in the past four seasons under coach Brent Piltz.

AFL Victoria made the decision to abandon the community championships last week after receiving feedback from clubs and leagues across the state.

Increasing costs, concerns over the validity of the ranking system, inconsistent levels of competition, travel and administrative demands on leagues were among the concerns put forward.

Gray said he doubted the TDFL would play senior representative football.

"I doubt it but we will know more after our AGM," Gray said.

"We might not have anyone to play against."

The Hume league season will kick off on April 4 with byes on April 11, June 6 and July 11.

In a draft draw, last season's grand finalists Osborne and Brock-Burrum are set to clash in round one at Osborne.
