Christmas is still weeks away, but for a select group of 800 Border children, there's only 10 more sleeps before they get to see Santa.

The Special Children's Christmas Party will take place on Saturday, November 30 at the Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.
Planning began in February for this year's event, and invitations have been finalised in recent weeks.
Special Children's Christmas Parties have been running for more than 25 years and co-ordinators work closely with charities, schools and community groups to invite children who have an illness or disability, or who are disadvantaged.
Co-ordinator Louise Carroll said seeing kids and their families let loose and enjoy the festivities, despite what may be going on in their lives, was truly rewarding.
"They may have been through a recent trauma," she said.
"[But] it's a happy day so full of smiles and kids having a ball.
"We have a lot of events all over Australia and some in New Zealand as well."
In 2016, the event marked 20 years on the Border, having first taken place in 1996.
Ms Carroll has volunteered at past parties and took over from previous co-ordinator of five years, Elle Bradley, earlier this year.
Some of the highlights she has arranged for the day include performers, skateboard lessons from Al's Skate Co, face painting, and giant board games from Snichols.
An impressive 'toy cave' will be set up and each child will receive two presents.
Ms Carroll said it wouldn't be possible without the financial and in-kind support of many Border companies, including Civiltest, Marshane Media, Wesptac, Kirinari Services, Xypex, Commercial Club and Vita Soy.
"The whole party runs with the goodwill of businesses," she said.
"It has been a tough year for sponsorship, and that's part of the economic climate.
"So we really want to thank our sponsors.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Corowa Kitchens have helped out with materials, and thanks to Border Express playing Santa, the presents have been delivered.
"We're also hoping to get 40 volunteers over the space of two days to give out presents, help with supervising, and to do pack up."
Ms Carroll also welcomes any businesses interested in future sponsorship. She can be reached at louise@specialchildrenschristmasparty.com.au.
