12.15pm:
A fire among hay bales on the back of a truck and trailer, has caused about $200,000 worth of damage.
The Kiewa Valley Highway, between Wodonga-Yackandandah Road and Boundary Road, is likely to remain closed for hours.
Police and firefighters were called to the scene at about 10.40am, after a load of hay bales ignited on the back of a truck and trailer.
The fire is currently under-control but still burning, with firefighters using a tractor to pull apart the bales, before dampening them.
Spontaneous combustion is thought to have sparked the fire, which burnt through the Scania prime mover and trailer, destroying both.
CFA commander Mark Owens said about 35 people attended the scene in challenging conditions.
"It's a warm day and because of the smoke the crews were fighting it in breathing apparatus," he said.
"That adds a bit more pressure to the body.
"There were pretty arduous conditions."
The blaze also burnt nearby grass.
The driver, who has a property at Kergunyah, wasn't hurt.
The man's cousin attended the scene and said the driver had been delivering the bales in the local area.
Mr Owens said tightly packed bales with too much moisture could be a "recipe for disaster" and said there was information on the CFA website about keeping them safe.
