HOWLONG Public School's golden run in the Brian Taber Shield came to a halt when it lost to Narooma by 31 runs in the PSSA quarter-finals at Yass on Thursday.

Set an imposing 164 for victory off 25 overs, Howlong put up a brave fight before buckling under pressure late in the innings.
Skipper Hunter Hall topscored with 41 not out while Harry Tindall made 32.
Extra drink breaks were called for during the match due to the searing heat.
Howlong Cricket Club junior coordinator Rowan Hall said the school had performed admirably during the campaign.
"The kids put up a really good fight in very tough conditions," Hall said.
"They have come a long way and it's a real credit to the school, Howlong Cricket Club and CAW.
"Two or three of the kids hadn't played cricket before this competition."
Howlong beat five schools before Thursday's match.
The last Murray region school to win the title was in 1983 when Adam Gilchrist played for Deniliquin South.
