Kiewa coach Ben Curphy came within a whisker of his second century of the season in his side's 35-run win against Barnawartha-Chiltern at Kiewa on Saturday.
Curphey smashed 20 boundaries before a rare false shot saw him caught at square leg on 99 from just 78 balls.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"I probably didn't hit it as well as I had been, I sort of nursed it around the corner instead of hitting it properly," Curphey said.
"It was a pretty decent track to bat on like it always is and anything that gets through the infield out there, you get value for shots."
Curphey shared a 121-run stand with Jason Bartel (72 not out) for the second wicket as Kiewa reached an imposing total of 3-277.
The visitors weren't overawed as Matt King (78) and Chris Hartshorn (71) produced a 130-run partnership, but Ben Stewart's 5-56 was enough to see Kiewa dismiss the Miners for 242.
It was the Hawks' second victory of the season.
