"I'm going to ask the Roads Minister to halt any further works and planning - don't waste any more of $3 million that is left in the kitty," he said.
"We saw 150 at a meeting on Friday night, I've got almost 400 signatures on a petition.

"People are outraged, this will take trucks right past Barkly Park, home to 28 different community groups including footballers, netballers and cricketers of all ages.
"The trucking industry is worried about narrow roundabouts, hairpin turns, street widths and the additional cost of going up and down through the gears on this route.
"Regional Roads need to accept that it is better to look to the future rather than trying to find some piecemeal solution with funding that quite frankly was never going to deliver what Rutherglen wants."
