The Pigeons ended months of speculation by signing boom Williamstown VFL players Willie Wheeler and Leigh Masters late Monday night.
"We'd been in the finals for 13 straight years and then missed last season, so it's a really good start to getting back into finals," a club statement said.
"It's definitely our biggest signings since Brendan.
It's definitely our biggest signings since Brendan ... one would have been fantastic, to get both ... is a great result.

"To have two of them together, as good mates, that adds to it significantly. One would have been fantastic, to get both to Yarrawonga is a great result."
Fevola transformed the O and M, almost doubling the size of the grand final.
The Pigeons ended Albury's three-year reign in 2012 and retained the title the following season before the Tigers regained the number one crown.
There will never be another 'Fev' in the league, so it would be unfair to think the duo will have that impact, but it's realistic to think they can push the Pigeons back into finals.
"Along with our coach Mark Whiley, it is the result of amazing recruiting efforts by Kane Smith, Chris Kennedy and Scott Pendergast," the club's statement said.

The pair is good friends with Mark Whiley, but the first-year coach was quick to play down talk finals will be a pass mark after recruiting the Seagulls' stars.
"No, we won't be judging our year on that," he said.
"We finished seventh and everyone else, in my eyes, has recruited just as well, we'll judge ourselves on the development of our young boys."
Like all clubs under the points system, much of its success will rely on the junior nursery.
"Ryan Bruce, Bailey Frauenfelder, those 19 to 20-year-olds who have played with the Bushies (Murray Bushrangers), we hope they take their game to the next level, along with a number of other players," Whiley said.
