A 31-year-old Glenrowan man is under police guard in hospital after he allegedly rammed two police vehicles, injuring a sergeant.

Police responded to a report of a man behaving erratically and making threats at a Siege Street residence just before midnight on Tuesday.
The man left the address before police attended and was later located in a vehicle near Glenrowan Recreation Reserve.
Police allege the man rammed a police car before driving away.

Victoria police said officers followed the car before it came to a stop a short time later at the intersection of Beaconsfield Parade and Gladstone Street, where the driver rammed a second police vehicle causing significant damage to the car.
He then collided with concrete bollards on Gladstone Street about 3am.
A sergeant sustained minor injuries during the incident and was assessed at the scene.
The man was arrested and transported to hospital for assessment.
The incident comes a month after Victoria Police unveiled a new policy for dealing with hostile vehicles.
