Applecross Senior High School and Kelvin Grove State College took out the 23rd Australian Schools Tennis Challenge at the Albury grasscourts on Wednesday.

The boys from Western Australia edged out Adelaide's Marryatville High School in the final, while the girls from Queensland defeated runners up Meriden.
The John Newcombe Sportsmanship Award was handed to the boys at St Peters Lutheran College and girls from St Mary's Catholic College, with the acknowledgment landing them a week at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in Texas.
Tennis NSW's John Ferguson said the students showed plenty of camaraderie over the five day event.
"It just pushes the fact that in tennis we not only look at the competitive side of it, but also the good sportsmanship side," Ferguson said.
The event has been held in Albury for the past 10 years, with the likes of Australian world number 63 Jordan Thompson playing in the competition as a junior.
