Five iPads were donated to the children's ward yesterday by the South West Region Development Team and a group of local volunteers who manned the canteen at gala days in the past 12 months.

The ward will also have their vision for a photo wall realised with 1000 photo prints from Harvey Norman also handed over to nurse unit manager Sam Peet.

"It is something that is very transportable so if the kids can't get out of bed due to their health the iPad can take their minds off what is going on in the hospital," she said.

"For the nursing staff sometimes distraction is a huge thing to help put the kids and parents at ease to help them look after the patients.

"Fundraising nowadays is hard work so to be considered for such a beautiful donation is brilliant.

"We see about 3500 kids a year so they will be able to take photos on their iPad of their time in here and stick it up on the wall where we will update with photos.where they can look at other kids who have come through here."

NRL South West NSW game development officer Dean Whymark said the money was riased through the primary school gala days.

"We have been lucky enough to team up with Harvey Norman to donate some iPads to the children's ward," he said.

"We came and had a meeting with the ward staff and identified something that we could purchase to help the kids stay while they are here.

"It is not just the NRL who has made this possible it is the schools and the volunteers in the local area, everyone coming together to do what we can.

"We are lucky and fortunate enough that kids are healthy enough to come and play our game so anything we can do to help the local community is such a positive for our sport."
