A thug who launched a savage attack on a man and woman in her Lavington home initially appeared unwilling to help his co-accused, a court has heard.

Corey Hastings punched the man three or four times to the face.
He then picked up a metal milkshake maker off a kitchen bench and threw this at the woman's head, opening a wound that bleed profusely.

But in the lead-up to the violence, Albury Local Court heard this week, Hastings was in two minds about whether he should retreat from what was unfolding.
He had entered the Webb Street house on June 2 just after midnight with another man, who was armed with a silver baseball bat.
Initially, Hastings, 25, went to the house because the male victim wanted to buy some mobile phone accessories from him.
Hastings would have made money from installing these accessories.
His co-accused began swinging the bat at the victim, who tried to defend himself but was struck on the right forearm.
This left him with a fracture that later required surgery.
When they pushed their way into the house, the co-accused said to the man: "You f ... en dog."
The co-accused then began swinging the bat as he approached the woman, who tried to get it out of his hands.
He then lunged towards the woman's friend, who began to overpower him.
"Corey," the co-accused said, "f ... en get in here and help."
But soon after, the male victim - who knew the man with the bat through mutual friends - called out to Hastings: "Corey, help us."
Eventually, the victims were able to make their way back to her bedroom, holding the door closed as she called Triple-0.
Police said the victims heard banging and crashing coming from within the house before all went quiet, followed by the noise of a car taking off at speed.
Items throughout the house, in which the woman lived with her two young children, who weren't home that night, had been tipped over or smashed.
"They're friends," Hastings said to police about the victims.
"They're good people and didn't deserve any of that."
Hastings later told police he took the bat off his co-accused and ordered: "Get out and leave them alone."
Hastings, of Lake Hume Village, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and two of destroy or damage property in company.
He was further remanded in custody for sentence on December 2.
