Wangaratta suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of Benalla, while Kiewa upstaged Wodonga to further narrow the gap between the competition's eight sides.
Kiewa moved from the bottom to sixth spot with a thrilling 89-87 victory against the Bulldogs.

The rivals split the rinks two apiece, but Kiewa had just enough in the bank to take the overall result.
Wangaratta only dropped one rink, but it was enough to see it fall to Benalla, 91-84.
The ladder leaders won two head-to-head battles and drew another, but Benalla's sole rink win was by 18 shots and saw it home by seven.
Corowa Civic kept itself in the top four with a hard-fought 92-86 triumph against neighbours Rutherglen, with the rinks again split at two apiece.
The only lopsided result from the weekend was the fixture between YMGCR and Yarrawonga, with the former winning by a whopping 63 shots.
YMGCR collected all 18 points in the 134-71 salute.
The ladder after round seven is: Wangaratta 101, Wodonga 79, Benalla 73, Corowa Civic 59, YMGCR 55, Kiewa 50, Rutherglen 45, Yarrawonga 42.
Next weekend sees Kiewa host Wangaratta, Wodonga travels to take on YMGCR, Benalla welcomes Rutherglen, while Corowa Civic clashes with Yarrawonga.
