From Melbourne restaurant royalty such as Stokehouse and The Atlantic Restaurant to the two-Michelin star Hibiscus in London and Cluny and Stable House Bistro in Canada, the new head chef at Patricia's Table at Brown Brothers brings a wealth of experience to the Milawa kitchen.
He has also established a new kitchen garden at the winery.
"We rely on and support a lot of local producers in the area, but you can't beat the feeling of picking something from your own garden," he said.
Having moved to the North East with partner Lauren, Price said they had fallen in love with the region, the produce and the seasons.
"Being in touch with nature and the defined seasons has made me instantly love the North East," Price said.
"I've noticed the differences in the seasons even between different towns; what's growing at the kitchen garden in Milawa doesn't always reflect what's happening in my own backyard in Wangaratta."
MEET MORE HOMEGROWN CHEFS:
What's your favourite dish?
Probably pasta for its simplicity and focus on flavour.
What's your favourite season?
I love all seasons for the difference they bring to the kitchen, but since moving to the King Valley spring has been beautiful to see and watching our kitchen garden flourish with zucchini flowers has been amazing.
What is your earliest cooking memory?
When I was about six going into the kitchen where my grandmother was cooking a ragu and getting to taste the food while stealing my grandfather's salami from the fridge.
Which ingredients do you grow yourself?
Tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants, warrigal greens, rocket, mixed lettuce, sage, rosemary, oregano, basil.
What is a favourite foodie ritual?
In Melbourne it would be going out to Victoria Street in Richmond with my partner Lauren for Pho at breakfast time.
Six people you'd invite to a dinner party.
Lauren and best friend Sehan with Dan Barber, Rene Redzepi, Josh Niland and Magnus Nilsson.
What are you bingeing on TV? If anything.
I'm not a huge TV binger, but I do like Brooklyn 99 for a laugh.
What did you have for dinner last night?
Prawn tacos (testing for the Grapes of Mirth festival).
What are you drinking at the moment?
With the luxury of wine at my doorstep at work, I tend to drink beer outside of work; I'm a basic Melbourne Bitter or VB drinker.
