Travelling with an old school friend to Sydney, Lucy had caught the train in Melbourne.
One thing led to another, which led to the bar in Carriage D.
"We drank the train out of white spirits," she said.
"The security guard had to wake us up when we got into Sydney.
"On the bright side, the trip seemed to take about two hours!"
Now Border-bound early next year, the Melbourne-based comedian will bring her show Judith Lucy Vs Men to Albury Entertainment Centre.
Having already toured the capital cities, Lucy wanted to bring the show to a regional audience.
Based around being single again at 51, Lucy said she wanted a second opinion on her dating game.
"I had a terrible breakup a couple of years ago," Lucy said.
"I didn't drink for six months straight; I had finally worked out at 49, that that was not a way to cope with grief and loss.
"But I was riddled with self-loathing and shame.
"Then I thought: 'Maybe this is a show!'"
Among exploring stereotypes and her own desires, Lucy will recount her full history with the opposite sex and leave it up to the audience to determine whether she should ever date again.
Lucy said the verdict was unanimous in the audiences of her capital city shows.
"Everyone thinks I should keep dating," she said.
"But you can be very happy being single too.
"I'd love to be surprised in Albury."
MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
A petition calling for Lucy to become the next Bachelorette on the Channel 10 TV series gained thousands of votes.
The petition exceeded the original target of 10,000 signatures, inching closer to the revised goal of 15,000 signatures.
"I kept a dignified distance from the whole thing," Lucy said.
"But what it does show, more broadly, is that it's really hard for older women to get parts on commercial television!"
Winner of People's Choice Award, Melbourne Comedy Festival 2017 and Best Comedy Performer, Helpmann Awards 2015, Lucy joined the ABC's The Weekly with Charlie Pickering this year.
They are now working on The Yearly with Charlie Pickering, which will air later this month.
Lucy said she looked forward to her Border show: "I won't be catching the train!"
