Former T20 batsman Brad Hodge will visit the Border as part of a trophy tour.
"They (officials) realised last year they tried to extend the competition a little bit further and they made that adjustment this year, which is great," Hodge said.
"It (the tournament) just seems to lift a lot of cricketers around Australia and it's just a fun part of the year."
The tournament starts on December 17 and finishes on February 8.
The Big Bash will boast an added element this season, featuring South African superstars Dale Steyn (Melbourne Stars) and AB de Villiers (Brisbane Heat).

"AB is probably one of the hardest batsmen I've seen bowlers trying to dismantle, he's just special, and Dale's one of the best T20 bowlers in the world now," Hodge offered.
Hodge will visit Wodonga Cricket Club's Les Cheesley Oval for two hours, from 5.30pm, as part of the promotion.
