My stance may not be popular, but I am well and truly over sections of the media continually beating up the shocking drought that is affecting areas of New South Wales and Queensland.

Night after night, commentators such as Alan Jones and Peta Credlin have wallowed in the misery and trauma of those that have been affected. To what end?
The major target of attack has been the government, tarring it as being uncaring and ill-informed. Give me breath. The PM and his aides are accused of being out of touch and told to "go and have a look for themselves".
Scott Morrison has ventured out of the suburbs many times, and there's no doubt he is receiving regular updates. Also, he will be being told a large percentage of affected farmers have sold their stock and battened down if they didn't have a water supply, feed in the shed or money in the bank.
WATER WOES
The comment by Water Minister David Littleproud after the Canberra protest, saying he would review water allocations, was applauded by Southern Riverina irrigators. However, in certain Victorian circles, an impending shockwave was registered. The only water currently available to NSW irrigators would have to come from Victoria, South Australia and - highly unlikely - from the environment water holder.
Unlike NSW, Victoria has prudently managed allocations and the minister, Lisa Neville, has drawn a line in the sand saying that Victoria will not under any circumstances hand over water.
GET OFF THE GRASS
No doubt about climate change - not only is it the root of all evil, but it is blamed for making the grass grow. In the UK, a veterinarian has commented that the wetter and warmer climate has meant the horses staple food - grass - has grown more rapidly than in the past, causing founder. The vet warned a significant percentage of horses he treats are overweight because of a range of modern "socioeconomic pressures" including climate change.
So does one extrapolate that if there is no grass, that's also caused by climate change. Hard to win.
