New Life Chapel in Wodonga hosted its eighth annual gift giving service on Sunday, with followers donating more than 300 gifts to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Senior Pastor Michael Geerling said last year the presents were given to more than 100 families in the North East, many with a number of children.
He said the program started as a way to help families in difficult situations and children out of the home at Christmas.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We thought this was a practical way to send a message of hope and love to children out of home," he said.
"DHHS officers have a very difficult role to play in the community.
"We love partnering with them to make a difference in children's lives."
Mr Geerling said the gift giving service was about serving the community in a practical way and channeling the christian message of generosity during Christmas.
