The local clothing business, formerly called Foard at Albury, has been operating since 1999 in Dean Street and will close its doors for the final time next month.
And for the Sheppards the 20 years of running the small business have been "some of the best" of their lives.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We always had a 20-year plan," Mr Sheppard said.
"It is a long time in small business but by the same token we are in that stage of life where we are looking in another direction.
"We have loved every second of it and we wanted to go out on top and not stay a season too long and it is the right decision for us."
Mrs Sheppard said they have had a "tight little team" of employees during the 20 years.
"We have been very lucky that we have had very honest good employees," she said.
"One I think has been here 17 years and a few others for eight years or so, so it has been really good.
"That has been one of the lucky breaks for us, a lot of people turn over their staff but that didn't happen here."
Mr Sheppard said although they were looking forward to the next chapter of their lives, which includes visiting their daughter in Dubai, it was sad their time at the business was coming to an end.
"It is probably a shame for Albury and is quite sad for our loyal customers too," she said.
"But at the end of the day it is about us now and the world never stopped when Elvis Presley died or JF Kennedy and it won't when Sheppards closes."
The Sheppards thanked their "loyal customers" for their support over the years and said that was something they would miss.
They have a 50 per cent off closing down sale on to clear out the last remaining stock.
The Sheppards still own the building at 606 Dean Street and said it is on the market to be leased from early January.
"We hope another business comes and uses this fabulous old building," Mrs Sheppard said.
