The Other Theatre Company will offer Shakespeare's Othello in the Albury Botanic Gardens during March.

Othello - the Moor of Venice is set in Cyprus and Venice and follows the tragic course of events that befall the title character.

Othello is a respected and successful general of the Venetian Republic, who falls in love with the beautiful Desdemona.

The couple wed secretly against the wishes of her father, a worthy Senator of Venice.

At the same time, Lago, Othello's experienced ensign, has been passed over for promotion by the flash young Florentine, Michael Cassio.

Lago's jealousy has turned him to scheming hatred of his General. But how to get back at Othello?

Othello will be the seventh show in The Other Theatre Company's Shakespeare in The Gardens series: 2014 A Midsummer Night's Dream; 2015 Much Ado About Nothing; 2016 The Tempest; 2017 Macbeth; 2018 Romeo and Juliet; and 2019 The Taming of the Shrew.

The Other Theatre Company is a not-for-profit amateur theatre company, offering opportunities to Border performers and technicians.

Performances will run on Friday and Saturday, March 6, 7,12 and 13, 2020.
