Since resuming in August Spanish Poet has notched three wins and four seconds from eight starts, prompting Maher to head down the highway to Moonee Valley.
Spanish Poet will contest the $50,000 Benchmark 64 Hcp, (1600m) with apprentice Michael Poy aboard.

Poy was aboard Spanish Poet at his most recent win on Wodonga Gold Cup day.
The pair scored an all-the-way victory on that occasion and Maher said he was keen to adopt similar tactics again at Moonee Valley.
"I'm unsure when I would have had my last city runner but it would be close to two years at a guess," Maher said.
"But the horse is going well and deserves an opportunity in city company.
"I've also nominated for Albury on Saturday but at this stage I'm keen to head to Melbourne.
"Michael rode him well at Wodonga and can claim 2kg which makes a difference.
"Another thing in his favour is the track should suit his racing style.
"His last two wins have been at Gundagai and Wodonga so he should have no problems handling Moonee Valley."
