Sutherland netted two goals as the Australians grabbed fifth place at the Moscow Evening Tournament in Russia.

After finishing third in their pool, Australia finished the event on a high with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Moscow Oblast in the fifth-sixth playoff.

Sutherland's side received a baptism of fire in the tournament opener with a 6-1 loss to Victoria Belarus.

However, they bounced back with a resounding 9-0 result against Sverdlovsk later in the day.

Sutherland fired in a penalty corner and also scored a field goal in the win.

The Australians had to settle for third place in the pool after dropping their final game against Dinamo Elektrosal.

Sutherland's uncle, Troy, captained the open Australian team on its recent tour of Austria.
