Spunlago proved his class last preparation with a Flemington victory alongside two city placings.
The classy stayer arguably produced the run of the race in the Wodonga Cup when he circled the field out wide approaching the home straight before being narrowly beaten by Willi Willi.

Stubbs said the reigning Southern Districts Horse of the Year faced some talented rivals at Flemington including Sure Knee and Ryan's Fender.
"It's a tough ask for the horse but there is no suitable races for him locally," Stubbs said.
"He's got top-weight and against a few young, up and coming horses.
"I'm certainly not heading down the highway chock-full of confidence.
"It was a fantastic run in the Wodonga Cup and we now know he is back to full fitness.
"You just hope he can hold his form now."
