"Just the appearance of the ground, stage, the preparation that's gone in, the band's sounding great, everything just looks so good," carols co-ordinator Lindsay Hanchett said on Friday.
Presented by Wodonga Brass since 1976, the annual night of community singing brings together musicians, soloists and volunteers from more than 40 groups.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Proceeds from candle sales and donations will go to the Albury Wodonga Health palliative care unit.
Wodonga mayor Anna Speedie said the night brought families out together.
"Everybody loves it, it's that whole Christmas feel," she said.
"I love coming down, seeing the kids and the excitement, for me that's the best part."
The carols program begins at 7.30pm, but Just Brass, Albury Wodonga Pipes and Drums and school musical groups will provide pre-carols entertainment from 6pm.
Food will also be for sale then, with SES volunteers to direct car parking, which is subject to weather.
Many favourite carols will be sung by Border soloists, accompanied by Wodonga Brass and a harmony choir formed for the occasion.
A certain special visitor in red is due to arrive about 8.30pm.
